Recently Social Styles Marketing took a trip to the Guy and Girl Spa at the Mondrian in South Beach when we were offered to try their Chakra Harmony Massage. We used this as an opportunity to learn a bit more about chakras and their meaning so we could share some of our insights for those of you who might be asking, “what in the world does chakra even mean”?
As an overview, there are supposed to be 7 chakras within all of us:
- The Root Chakra
- The Sacral Chakra
- The Solar Plexus Chakra
- The Heart Chakra
- The Throat Chakra
- The 3rd Eye Chakra
- The Crown Chakra
For a more detailed explanation on each of these chakras, check out this post from mindvalley blog.
Each chakra can have negative side effects when out of balance and can include everything from anxiety and depression to lack of empathy or struggling to express your emotions. The goal is to have all of your chakras neither underactive or overactive so that they are balanced.
During the Chakra Harmony Massage at the Mondrian South Beach, they did everything from deep tissue massage, reflexology and energy work (placing gem stones on each chakra) to attempt to align ones chakras. After this, they let our director Sandra Young know that her heart chakra was blocked. (Oh no!)
We did a little digging on the heart chakra in particular and found that it represents our ability to love and be loved, along with enjoying what we love. The ways to heal this Chakra which we pulled from Conquering Fear Spiritually is to schedule in “regular time to do something you love, just for you, and commit to it”. Also, since the color associated with this chakra is green, try eating green foods such as leafy greens, green apples and avocados, along with drinking green tea or green smoothies.
Each of the 7 chakras has a different method for healing but all are rooted in self care and wellness. Tap into where you personally feel most unbalanced, attribute that to a chakra and try some of the many healing practices suggested. Again, the Conquering Fear Spirituality post had some great suggestions to at least get you started. Also, having tried the Chakra Harmony Massage at Guy and Girl Spa at Mondrian South Beach, that was a very important step in having us learn about chakras and tap into a new element of wellness.
